About the Bakehouse

Our bakehouse is sunny, more than 70 years old, with creaky floors, a pair of birds who occasionally live in the flue behind the wall, cheap spices, good rum and a warm oven most every day.
Things I love (besides my two toddlers and sexy husband) — brown butter, my 98 cent spatula and peanut butter on a slim spoon right from the jar.
I also love baking stuff for other people…especially when they enjoy eating it.
I only post my favorite recipes. Absolute favorites. I've run out of ways to say "awesome" and "fabulous," so I repeat myself. A lot.
On the photography -- I'm into close-ups. I want you to see the texture of the food. This way you know exactly how each recipe looked -- guts and all -- when I made it.
At some point, I'll post a photo of myself on this page (not a close-up). I'm just way more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. But, I will come out of this closet and put up a pic. Some day.
And I love doing this -- putting these sweets out there, going on and on about baking and food.
I love hearing back from you out there, how things went when you made something, everything.
It's awesome.
Things I don’t love – late fees, Las Vegas and zombies.
